Southern State offers associate degree programs in the areas of business, computer technology, engineering, education, human and social services, health sciences, and law enforcement, as well as one-year certificate programs in accounting, aviation: general, airframe and powerplant, medical assistant technology, phlebotomy, practical nursing, and real estate.

  • ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ has released its President's List and Dean's List for academic excellence for Spring Semester 23/24. To be eligible for the President's List, a student must maintain a 4.0 grade point average while carrying a specific number of academic credit hours. Those who achieve the Dean's List are full-time students who have earned at least a 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0.

  • ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre is pleased to announce its upcoming 19th, 2024-2025 season, including "Radium Girls," playing November 8-10, 2024. "Othering" will appear in the spring, playing April 4-6, 2025. Both productions will be presented in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ's Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.

  • ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ is excited to announce Kids Career Encounter, a Summer Enrichment Program taking place June 24-27, 2024. Designed to foster creativity, learning, and personal growth, Kids Career Encounter offers students the chance to learn about different career pathways. Each session will be filled with fun activities that relate to one or more of Southern State's academic programs.

  • On Monday, May 6, 2024, Southern State hosted the second annual end-of-year celebration for students, faculty, and staff involved in the Ohio Code Scholar (OCS) project. This event occurred in the Patriot Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and culminated the program's work in southern Ohio, supporting the Ohio Code Scholar (OCS).

  • On April 24, Southern State's Department of Health Sciences hosted a Career Connections Job Fair and RN-BSN College Fair. Over 50 current and prospective students attended as well as 10 employers and 5 colleges with whom Southern State partners for seamless transfer opportunities.
  • Four ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Students Named to the All-Ohio Academic TeamFour ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Students Named to the All-Ohio Academic Team
  • ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ is pleased to announce that four current ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ students have been named to the All-Ohio Academic Team. The students, joining other honorees from Ohio's community college system, will be honored with scholarships for their academic excellence, leadership, and community service. A ceremony to recognize this year's award winners will be held virtually on April 26 as part of Community College Month in Ohio.

  • Southern State student Kayla Bradshaw, of Clinton County, is one of 25 women in Ohio to recently be awarded an Intel Semiconductor Scholarship; a scholarship established by Intel Corporation. Of these 25 scholarship recipients, only 8 were selected to visit the Intel Semiconductor Facility in Phoenix, Arizona for a hands-on experience. Bradshaw was one of the 8 students selected to attend.

  • The Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Ohio Region Awards Conference was held on Friday, March 8th and Saturday, March 9th. The event was hosted by Cuyahoga Community College. Southern State's chapter had four officers and one advisor in attendance. In total, 14 chapters were in attendance/represented. This was a time of fellowship, celebration, and business proceedings.

  • The Theatre Department at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ presents "Firebringer," with music and lyrics by Meredith Stepien and Mark Swiderski, book by Matt Lang, Nick Lang, and Brian Holden, and arranged by Clark Baxtresser and Pierce Siebers, playing April 12-14 in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State's Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. The Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; the Sunday matinee begins at 3:30 p.m.
