³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ to hold orientation for free GED preparation classes- The Adult Opportunity Center (AOC) at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ is offering a January orientation for new program enrollees in basic academic skills, GED preparation, and college readiness.
Simulator added to ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s health sciences programs- Students in ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s health sciences programs will gain an increasingly realistic lab experience thanks to the addition of new Human Patient Simulator (HPS).
New truck driver training program offers free tuition and job opportunity- To help encourage and promote careers in truck driving, Schneider—one of the nation’s largest truckload carriers—is offering a Contract Training Program in conjunction with ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Truck Driving Academy (TDA).

Southern State donates laptops to YMCA program- The YMCA accepted a donation of 11 laptop computers from ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ.
Bob McEwen sworn in as ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ trustee- At the Nov. 12 meeting of the ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees, Fayette County Probate Court Judge David B. Bender presided over the swearing in of Bob McEwen whose appointment fills one of four vacancies on the college’s board.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ to perform Nov. 16 Veterans Day concert- The Southern State Community Band and Southern State Singers will honor our nation’s heroes with a Veterans Day concert 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Central Campus.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees to meet November 12- The ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees will meet 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, in the Community Center on the college’s Fayette Campus.

Branscome signs Letter of Intent to play ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ basketball- Hillsboro High School standout Alex Branscome has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ.
Local women invited to Dress for Success- "Ask for what you need." This is the advice that Kelly Collison, Associate Director of Programming for Dress for Success Cincinnati, repeated to guests at Highland County’s first ever Dress for Success event held Thursday at the Highland County Training and Employment Center (Hi-TEC) in Hillsboro.
Bob McEwen appointed as Southern State trustee- Ohio Gov. John R. Kasich’s office has announced an appointment to the ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees. Hillsboro native Bob McEwen will serve for a term continuing through May 11, 2018.

³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ shocks PSU-GA in sudden death overtime- In its second game of the season, the ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ soccer team defeated Penn State University – Greater Allegheny Aug. 31 in a sudden death overtime thriller.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ falls to PSU-NK in season opener- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s soccer team kicked off the 2014 season Aug. 30 at Penn State University (New Kensington) in Pennsylvania.

Southern State opens new campus in Mt. Orab- To mark the official opening, a Dedication Ceremony was held Aug. 20 at the newest Southern State campus which is located at 351 Brooks-Malott Road in Mt. Orab.

³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Basic Peace Officers complete training- The cadets of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Basic Peace Officers Training Program were recognized at a special ceremony held July 10 at the college’s Fayette Campus in Washington Court House.

Bates signs Letter of Intent to play ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ basketball- Fairfield High School standout Ryan Bates has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ expands bachelor, master degree opportunities to Fayette County- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ is expanding its partnership with Lindsey Wilson College (LWC) to offer advanced degrees in Fayette County. Classes begin Friday, Aug. 29.
Sears signs Letter of Intent to play ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ basketball- Hillsboro High School standout Wesley Sears has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Respiratory Care celebrates graduation- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s eighth graduating class in the respiratory care program was honored during a recent ceremony on the college’s Central Campus in Hillsboro.
Sneak Peek of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Mt. Orab campus set for July 15- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ will host a Sneak Peek of its newest campus in Brown County from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, at 351 Brooks-Malott Road in Mt. Orab.

³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre presents 'Macbeth' July 25-27- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre will present William Shakespeare’s "Macbeth," at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 25, and Saturday, July 26, and at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on the Central Campus.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Adult Opportunity Center holds recognition celebration- Area residents who passed the General Education Development (GED) test were honored June 13 at the 26th annual Adult Opportunity Center’s Recognition Celebration at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Central Campus in Hillsboro.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ to host early childhood education conference- The sixth annual early childhood education conference, "Building Bridges Birth Through Age Eight," will be held July 28–August 1, 2014, at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Central Campus.

- OACC names Jack Hershey next President and CEO
- COLUMBUS – State finance expert and veteran public higher education advocate Jack Hershey has been named the new President and CEO of the Ohio Association of Community Colleges (OACC).
Murray signs Letter of Intent to play ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ basketball- Clermont Northeastern High School standout Zach Murray has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ.
Ladrach posthumously conferred title of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Faculty Emeritus- As a tribute to the legacy of the late Professor Samuel N. Ladrach, Ph.D., the ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Board of Trustees voted May 2 to confer upon him the title of Faculty Emeritus.
Info session set May 29 for ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s electromechanical degree- Through a partnership between ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ and the DP&L Generation Center, students can earn an associate degree in Electromechanical Engineering or take general education courses that will fit into most academic pathways, all at the site in Manchester.
Info session for ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ, Scioto Tech partnership set for May 28- Through a partnership between ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ and Scioto County Career Technical Center, students can now earn an associate degree in Computer Information Technology, Law Enforcement, or LPN-RN, all on the Scioto Tech site in Lucasville.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Associate Degree Nursing program graduates 29- Twenty-nine graduates of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Associate Degree Nursing program were recognized during a recent pinning ceremony at the college’s Central Campus in Hillsboro.

Info session planned May 20 for ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s aviation degree- An associate’s degree in Engineering: Aviation Maintenance is now offered through a partnership between ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ and Great Oaks Career Campuses. Those interested in learning more about the program are invited to a May 20 orientation and informational session; classes begin Aug. 25.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ to host free Biotech 2014 workshop on May 16- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ will offer Biotech 2014 Edvotek Workshop: Biotechnology Applications for Agriculture and Education from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 16, on the college’s Fayette Campus.

Dinsmore signs Letter of Intent to play ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ basketball- North Adams High School senior standout Sara Dinsmore has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ students named to All-Ohio Academic Team- Sixty of the highest achieving community-college students from around Ohio were honored Wednesday, April 30, as part of the All-Ohio Academic Team Awards. Seven students from ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ were included in the honors.

Southern State Singers to present April 27 spring concert- The Southern State Singers will present a spring concert 3 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 234 N. High St., Hillsboro.
Southern State students inducted into PTK honor society- The membership of one of higher education’s most recognized honor societies, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), was enhanced by the induction of several new members at an April 19 ceremony on the Central Campus of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre sets ‘Macbeth’ auditions this weekend- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Theatre is pleased to announce upcoming auditions for the summer production of William Shakespeare’s "Macbeth." Chancellor meets with Southern State students- John Carey, Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor, visited the Fayette Campus of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Monday to meet with students and discuss the new community college funding formula that is currently in the Ohio legislature.

³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ, Sinclair partnership expands drone agriculture program- A partnership between Sinclair Community College and ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ will expand Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) training for precision agriculture purposes on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s campus in Wilmington.
Atrium Medical Center donates equipment to Southern State- Atrium Medical Center recently donated a BiPAP machine to the respiratory care program at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ hosts ‘Turning Obstacles into Opportunities’ on April 10- Author and national speaker Dr. Aaron Thompson will present "Turning Obstacles into Opportunities" 1 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ’s Central Campus.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ pottery students hosting April 10 show and sale- Students enrolled in ceramics classes at ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ are hosting a Pottery Students Showcase & Sale from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 10.

Education fares well in Governor’s annual address- In his fourth State of the State address, Gov. John Kasich placed high importance on learning initiatives in Ohio, specifically citing the move to performance-based funding and the community college's role in workforce development, college credit in high school, and GED attainment.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ deemed eligible for Community College Excellence prize- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ was one of 150 colleges nationwide determined eligible to apply for the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence.
Southern State announces new GED site in Bethel- ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ announces the opening of a new GED preparation site in Bethel.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ hosts Feb. 28 workshop on Precision Agriculture- A one-day workshop in Precision Agriculture for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) will be offered 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, on the Central Campus of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ.
³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ hosts ‘A Journey to Radical Change’ on Feb. 20- Author and motivational speaker Sam Bracken will present "A Journey to Radical Change" 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, on the Central Campus of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ.
