Nature of Profession

Managerial personnel oversee, direct and plan the work of others as well as determine business policy. Real Estate agents and brokers will have a thorough knowledge of residential and commercial property in a given community. Real Estate professionals must determine which properties best fit the needs and budgets of their clients. This will require a working knowledge of local zoning and tax laws as well as where to obtain financing for purchase is required in this field. Agents and brokers also act as a medium for negotiations between the buyer and seller. Successful completion of specific courses within this program will qualify you to sit for the "Ohio Real Estate Salesperson" Exam. In addition, the successful completion of this program along with other Ohio Division of Real Estate requirements will qualify you to sit for the "Ohio Real Estate Brokers License" Exam.

After successful completion of the Business Management - Real Estate Broker Degree (or 60 semester credit hours) students will be required to complete a criminal records check of both state & FBI records at a cost of about $60, exact cost may vary by location. Information on performing a background check can be found on the Broker Examination Application. Students will be required to submit a completed Broker Examination Application with a $135.00 fee. Program Outcomes

Graduates of this program should be able to:

  • Demonstrate understanding of real estate negotiation complexities and legalities of both a seller and a buyer.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of zoning and tax laws related to real estate sales.
  • Demonstrate the ability to be proficient in the mathematical concepts required of the Real Estate Industry.

  • Analyzing Reports - Students will calculate, analyze and interpret financial information, and use financial data for business decision- making. Students will demonstrate knowledge of the accounting process and prepare basic financial statements.
